Jammu ITMS Project- 2017
CLIENT
Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC)
PROJECT INTRODUCTION
The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC),under AMRUT (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme of Govt of India, intends to install Intelligent Traffic SignalSystem (ITSS) including Pedestrian Signal with Operations & Monitoring of the traffic lightsfrom a Centralized Control Room at various locations. In addition to 34 New Junctions, JMC also wants to improve upon the existing system consisting of various Traffic Signalsto ensure orderly movement of traffic to decongest as well as to reducethe accidents.Jammu Municipal Corporation(JMC) wants to modernize the traffic management and to integrate all Adaptive Junctions withcentralized ATCS control room. This has helped them to operate and monitor these junctions remotely, using camera-based Vehicle Detection Sensortechnologyand change the signal light timings on real time basis. The proposed Traffic Light Signal System by Jammu Municipal Corporation is more efficient, real time based and hence requires less waiting time for the motorists. The fast response time of Srinagar ITMS and excellent operations during emergency situations thus increases the traffic handling capacity of roads with very little or no jamming on the road. Jammu ITSS project has transformed the conventional FIXED time signaling System on city roads into a real-time state-of-the-art Control Room based Adaptive Traffic Control System.

System Overview
CoSiCoSt is an Adaptive Traffic Control System (ATCS)
- Adaptive Traffic Control Systems respond to changes in traffic patterns in real-time
- Continuously detect vehicular traffic volume, compute “optimal” signal timings based on this detected volume and simultaneously implement them at the traffic junction
- Results in reduced delays, shorter queues and decreased travel times
The Major Benefits Of CoSiCoSt Based ATCS System Are –
- Reduction in Signal Cycle Time – from 180 seconds to 120 seconds average
- Improvement in Vehicle Speed – about 10% increase in traffic speed
- Reduction of stoppage delay on the network – about 17%
- Energy savings – 100%, as the entire system is solar based.
