PROJECT INTRODUCTION
The Tunnel ELV (Extra-Low Voltage) Systems deployed in the Dwarka Tunnel Packages 1 & 2 integrate a range of intelligent technologies including Variable Message Signs (VMS), Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR), CCTV Surveillance using PTZ cameras, Vehicle-Actuated Speed Displays, and Radar-based Speed Enforcement Systems. Together, these subsystems enhance visibility, driver awareness, and compliance while enabling continuous traffic monitoring and control.
Operating independently yet cohesively, the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) platform forms the backbone of tunnel operations—integrating fire detection and suppression systems, jet fans, boom barriers, lighting, ventilation, and emergency response equipment. SCADA ensures centralized monitoring, real-time data acquisition, and automated control of all critical tunnel assets, ensuring operational safety and reliability.
Envoys Electronics Pvt. Ltd., as the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Master System Integrator (MSI), designed, supplied, and integrated both the ELV and SCADA systems. Envoys’ indigenous technology and MIS expertise ensured seamless interoperability, efficient command-and-control, and long-term sustainability across the Dwarka Tunnel network.
KEY OBJECTIVES
- Automated Variable Message Signs (VMS): Fully automated VMS units that display real-time traffic information, lane status, and safety advisories, enabling commuters to make quick and informed driving decisions within the tunnel.
- Intelligent Traffic and Speed Management: The integrated Vehicle-Actuated Speed Displays and Radar-based Speed Enforcement Systems continuously monitor vehicle speeds and ensure strict compliance with tunnel speed limits, reducing accident risk and maintaining steady traffic flow.
- Advanced ANPR and Surveillance Network: The Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system operates with high accuracy to identify and record vehicle information, while PTZ-enabled CCTV cameras provide 24/7 surveillance coverage for incident detection and operational monitoring.
- Centralized SCADA Command Platform: The SCADA system integrates all tunnel utilities—including jet fans, fire detection and suppression systems, boom barriers, ventilation, and lighting—into a unified control interface, allowing real-time monitoring, automated alerts, and rapid incident response.
- Internal Command and Control Centre (ICCC) Integration: All field devices communicate seamlessly with the Tunnel Control Room through a secure network, ensuring uninterrupted data flow, system synchronization, and reliable remote operation.
